Welcome to Miami!
On Wednesday night I thought hell had frozen over-the Kings took Lebron and the Miami Heat to double overtime IN MIAMI. Sure, the Kings lost, but with the amateurs (the Kings) forcing the Hall of Famers (the Heat) to double OT, I can’t help but be proud. Let’s recap.
The Kings stayed close in the first quarter and where able to head to the locker room tied at half-time. It was anyone’s game in the second half as the Kings pushed Miami to OT. Both teams had a chance to win it, but once again the Kings prevailed sending the game to double OT. Not too shabby for a team who currently has 20 wins and 39 losses. Unfortunately the Kings couldn’t hold it together in double OT as they were outscored 17-5 and recorded a 141-129 loss.
While many Kings players stepped up to the plate to help the team, there are two players who really stood out and made it all possible. Marcus Thornton had a team-high 36 points, going 8 for 12 from behind the arc, while DeMarcus Cousins put up 24 points and pulled down 15 boards. Oh and Tyreke Evans' 26 points didn’t hurt either. Even though the Kings weren’t able to come away with a W, I was proud they took the former and most likely future NBA champions to double OT.
Fast forward to last night where the Kings continued their Florida road trip and headed to Orlando to face the Magic. Luckily the Kings weren’t too beat up after a rough night in Miami and managed to do work against the Magic. John Salmons lead the team with 21 points as seven Kings scored in double digits to help get the road win 125-101. Shout out to our newest addition, Patrick Patterson, who had 13 points and 7 rebounds to help lead the Kings to victory.
Tomorrow the Kings continue their road trip to Texas as they take on the unstoppable Spurs in San Antonio. Let’s hope we can continue our winning streak.
