Over the past couple of weeks, the Kings have literally led me on a roller coaster ride First, Tyreke Evans (who has been a disappointment this season) made a half-court, buzzer beating, game winning shot against Memphis which also made it as a top 10 play on SportsCenter. In their New Years day game against Denver, the Kings lost by 18 and then tonight, the Kings beat the Suns by six after being down by eight at the end of the 3rd. I would like us to be consistent, whether it be consistently good or consistently bad, but as expected, the Kings are keeping me on my toes.

Tonight’s win can be credited to who I hope can be the 2010-2011 Rookie of the Year, Demarcus Cousins. Sure, DMC is a little immature and he doesn’t always make the best decisions, but tonight he showed up and he showed up big, putting up 28 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Omri Casspi had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and he went 4-6 from beyond the arc. Francisco Garcia, who played a team high of 40 minutes, also had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Although we pulled away with the win, where the hell was our hero and former ROY Tyreke Evans? Evans, who is said to be having “family issues,” should have stayed home considering in his 38 minutes he went 2-12 and scored a total of 6 points. As my friend Eric (creator of mouthofthesouthshore.com) would say, Evans is having “shooting issues.” In any case, tonight proved that the Kings don’t need Evans to win games as newbie DMC is able to step up and fill the leadership role.

If tonight was a preview of what is to come in the second half of the season, I truly believe the Kings can win (dare I say) 21 games. On Tuesday the Kings take on the Atlanta Hawks and former Kings PG Mike Bibby. Here’s hoping to a winning 2011.
